Veterans Day Salute
Veterans Memorial site tour
As part of our 2020 Veterans Day celebration, members of the Mansfield Veterans Memorial and Tribute Foundation will conduct tours of the Veterans Memorial site from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14. The future site is located at Julian Feild Park, 1531 E. Broad St., at the northwest corner of East Broad and Magnolia streets.
Whether you are a Veteran or not please come out to see our future plans for a Mansfield Veteran's Memorial. Visitors are asked to wear a mask and practicing social distancing for the safety of others, especially our veterans. Visit www.mansfieldveteransmemorial.com. In the event of an inclement weather cancellation, we will post it on the City website and Facebook page no later than 9 a.m. Saturday.
Due to the public health emergency, the 2020 Veterans Day Parade was canceled. In lieu of that celebration, the City of Mansfield is proud to honor our heroes in a more personal, yet socially distant way!
This fall, residents were invited to register local Veterans (themselves or a family member) for a special recognition. Thanks to support from our sponsors, Mansfield ISD, Mouser Electronics, American Legion 624 and Home Heath Care to Care of Excellence Home Health , each veteran who registered by Friday, Oct. 26 received a special yard sign and gift bag as our show of thanks. The names of each veteran were also posted on display on the marquee at the Shops at Broad every day, Nov. 1-11, at 8 a.m., Noon and 7 p.m. Banners were also placed at assisted living and retirement homes who registered Veteran residents to honor them as well.
Our annual Patriotic Salute was produced virtually, and can be viewed above. The tribute includes patriotic music and presentations from all over the community to honor and say thank you to those who have served.
